I know everyone is tired of this edit lol but I'm going to mention a few thoughts I have and this post suits to it. Naoko was a genius for writing Usagi and Chibiusa (additionally some other well written relationships are Usagi&Galaxia + Usagi&Cosmos), it is barely appreciated by the fandom but she is very good at writing drama 1, Usagi and Chibiusa's relationship is genuinely one of the best written and important platonic relationships in any media 2, Chibiusa is the best written character of Sm and one of the most unique and interesting characters in media as well, people just love to ignore it for obvious dumb reasons 3, Chibiusa and Usagi's characters and how their relationship is handled as story progresses is one of the reasons that Sailor Moon manga actually has well written drama, portrays emotions in a mature and realistic way and never lacked characterization as some people say (yes the drama is way better than 90s anime. Having less slice of life and comedy moments doesn't make something badly written, it means it has it's own way of storytelling which brings along a unique charm and that is very good) 4
Nothing in particular happened but I'm tired of people saying the manga isn't good, it isn't emotional, 90s anime is more well written and dumb stuff like that. Just say it wasn't for you or you didn't want to understand it and get over it. It is actually sad to me how Naoko's original work has always been perceived by the lens of 90s anime and not for it's own thing, even by people who haven't seen the anime and read the manga first and how Toei and some fans(!) treated even Crystal which was said to be a reboot to adapt the manga from beginning to end more faithfully and not a remake of anime in the same way as 90s
The fact that we met here, it might be a miracle. This isn’t the world it was until yesterday, Because now you exist. Never say goodbye again......
#you know i actually think there were ways to improve on the manga instead of creating a mess whilst making the anime#you could have kept the story and characters in the same way#and still have the slice of life moments#but toei always wanted this series to be child friendly and get carried with aesthetic/toys which is stupid#hence why nowadays people perceive media like cardcaptor sakura more positively because not only madhouse improved on the manga#but also didn't make the series depend on superficial stuff like aesthetic. they used the potential#do i like the 90s anime and crystal? yes. however as cosmos came out i realized i will always have a bittersweet feeling about#how anime adaptations would have been even better than manga maybe if they used the potential#this is also why sera myu is my favourite version after manga and my favourite adaptation of sm overall#it knows how to use the potential and even improve on it. like le mouvement final was a manga faithful musical but they kept the harumichi-#death scene from 90s anime?? the comedy between setsuna and starlights?? brilliant choices and you dont have to be genius to think them lol#pgsm is the best adaptation of dark kingdom arc but i never thought it is fair to compare it to others since it only covers 1 arc#i just wish anime adaptations did what sera myu OR cosmos does#cosmos is the peak thanks to director and i will always be happy about it at least we will have the perfect farewell lol :'D#this turned into a messy rant real quick im sorry-
